Job Opportunity Briefing (JOB) for Maritime Officer/Engineer

The TNTA and TETA are train-and-place programmes with intention to hire Singaporeans to join the Maritime Industry. Through this 31-month training programme, individuals will receive training to become a CoC (Class 3) Deck Officer or CoC (Class 5) Marine Engineer respectively. The programmes are funded and supported by the Skillsfuture Singapore (SSG), Singapore Maritime Officers’ Union (SMOU), Singapore Shipping Association (SSA), Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) and shipping companies. 


Deck Officer 

- Navigational and Cargo Watchkeeping

- Maintenance of Ship Structure 

- Working with Multi-National Crew 


Eligibility Criteria:

- Singaporeans and Singapore PRs

- At least a GCE 'N' level pass in English OR workplace Literacy Level 5 (WPL5)

- At least a GCE 'N' level pass in Mathematics and Science (preferably Physics)

- Physically and medically fit

- No night and colour blindness

- Able to commit 31 months of training, with 6-9 months onboard vessels

- Highly disciplined and motivated 

- Completed National Service (For males only)



Marine Engineer

- Engine Room Watchkeeping

- Machinery Maintenance and Repair

- Working with Multi-National Crew


Eligibility Criteria:

- Singaporeans and Singapore PRs

- Nitc or High Nitec, preferably with the following:

     > Marine Engineering

     > Offshore & Marine Engineering Design

     > Marine & Offshore Technology

- Physically and medically fit

- No night and colour blindness

- Able to commit 31 months of training, with 6-9 months onboard vessels

- Highly disciplined and motivated

- Completed National Service (For males only)
