An Automation Systems Engineer will work directly with customers to define functional requirements and to design, configure, and implement control systems, software programs, electronic circuitry, or packaging for products or systems. This role involves working in a team environment with engineers and designers from RoviSys, partners, and clients to provide state-of-the-art control systems that improve efficiency, product quality, and profitability in process manufacturing. The engineer will design electrical panels, control architecture, and wiring drawings. They will develop and build solutions using different industrial applications. Development of P&ID documentation for process clients is also part of the responsibilities. The engineer will define and implement programmable logic controller (PLC)/ladder design and distributed control system (DCS) configuration to meet client needs. They will execute and lead services such as systems upgrades, system support, and routine maintenance. Implementation of industrial applications based on solution architect and technical lead’s design is required. Testing and on-site commissioning of control systems will be performed. The engineer will provide support to process control clients at sites in Singapore and abroad. This role may grow into a position leading a team of engineers and technicians to provide control system solutions for clients.
Control systems knowledge includes electrical design and process control fundamentals. Familiarity with controllers such as single loop control, PLC, DCS, DDC, or PC-based control is required. Exposure to control theory and some process understanding is helpful but not required. Platform knowledge in Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Emerson DeltaV, and similar systems is expected. Knowledge of programming languages such as but not limited to C#, Python, or C++ is necessary. Proficiency in MS Office applications is required. Understanding of batch or continuous process control, combustion control, and similar processes is beneficial. Awareness of process safety, validation, and good documentation practices is important. Programming languages include PLC ladder logic, function block, SFC, and VB. Experience with third-party HMI/SCADA software such as Intellution, WonderWare, OSIsoft, and others is expected. Additional skills in network design and administration are a plus. Qualifications include being self-motivated, possessing excellent communication skills, and enjoying working with people. A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, or related fields is required. Process or industrial experience is a plus.
