SPD’s Children Services Division provides early intervention support for young children through the Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC) and the Development Support-Learning Support (DS-LS) programmes. Through our EIPIC centres, we support families of children who require medium to high levels of early intervention support, providing therapy and educational support for infants and young children with developmental needs. The DS-LS programme supports children in K1 and K2 who require low levels of early intervention support. DS-LS is carried out in the child’s preschool and provides targeted developmental and learning support for children in areas such as speech and language, social skills, motor skills, behaviour and literacy, as well as enhancing the capabilities of the preschools to better support these children in their natural learning environment. As a speech therapist, you are expected to: Assess and identify the needs of individual clients to recommend appropriate therapeutic interventions and programmes Conduct individual or group therapy to ensure client outcomes. Participate in public education/outreach to build an inclusive society. Keep abreast of the latest research and developments in speech therapy and be involved in networking with hospitals and other community organisations. Senior speech therapists will be expected to take on supervisory and administrative roles in addition to clinical work.
