Baggage Sorting & Tagging: Ensure efficient sorting, retagging, and/or tagging of bags, ensuring they are transferred to the correct trolleys and containers. Supervise all staff handling baggage, ensuring accurate and proper loading of baggage into the correct containers/trolleys. Ensure there are sufficient containers/trolleys to handle flights. Ensure containers and doors/flaps are properly secured before towing baggage to the correct aircraft on time. Baggage Handling & Offloading: Ensure that all containers and trolleys are properly labeled before use. Brief all contract staff assigned to flights on their duties and any special flight requirements. Ensure that all discharged baggage is offloaded accurately and swiftly onto the correct arrival conveyor belts, ensuring transit baggage is reloaded into transfer containers. Handle fragile and odd-sized items with care, ensuring they are safely transported and delivered. Assist in towing empty Baggage Trollies (BTs) away from the belt to re-use areas or Transfer (TX) Lines for remaining transfer bags. Tractor & Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that tractors and related equipment are properly maintained (e.g., checking tire condition and threading). Report any defects or malfunctions immediately to the Duty Manager. Record Keeping: Ensure that all details are accurately recorded in the Baggage Presentation Timing Record Form. Conduct checking of bags in the arrived BT to ensure they are for the correct flight. Assist in unloading bags onto the belt safely and properly. Ensure tractors' keys are properly returned and safely stored, with proper movement records. General Housekeeping & Safety: Maintain cleanliness of the Baggage Workstation area and the Staff Operational Areas. Adhere to safety checks and proper procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Report any hazards promptly. Ensure that discipline is maintained in the workplace, including the care of company premises and property. Lost & Found Handling Procedures: Attend to passengers with mishandled baggage, processing the Property Irregularity Report (PIR) as per airline requirements. Ascertain missing baggage weight and assist with interim reimbursements for affected passengers. Raise detailed Damage Property Reports (DPR) in WorldTracer for damaged bags and pilferage cases, ensuring the proper documentation and procedures are followed. Ensure that surplus baggage and Found Property (FP) are processed in accordance with airline requirements. Arrival Claim & Tracing Procedures: Ensure orderliness of baggage presentations through proper communication with the Arrival Offloading Officer. Handle surplus bags and assist in the handling of mishandled baggage, ensuring all discrepancies are promptly addressed. Conduct tracing of mishandled baggage, keeping passengers informed on the status. Claims Administration: Process all pending and closed PIR cases, providing interim replies to claim letters and submitting necessary documentation for airline claims. Manage payments related to baggage repair or replacement and forward copies of payment invoices to the Accounts Section. Other Duties: Perform any other duties assigned by the superiors as required.
