Job Detail

Perform repair, refurbishment, and modification of high-temperature and hardened dies using appropriate machining and tooling techniques. Operate and maintain equipment including 5-axis CNC machines, wire-cut EDM machines, lathes, drilling machines, and welding equipment. Execute manual finishing processes such as polishing, grinding, and deburring to achieve required surface quality and tolerances. Utilize hydraulic and pneumatic tools, fixtures, gauges, and precision instruments to support die maintenance and shopfloor activities. Conduct geometric inspection and dimensional verification using precision measurement systems (e.g., CMM, gauges). Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and SOPs to perform accurate machining and repair work. Troubleshoot tooling and die issues, identifying defects and implementing corrective repair solutions. Support continuous improvement initiatives including process optimisation, efficiency enhancement, and defect reduction. Maintain strict adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and 5S housekeeping practices. Assist with ad-hoc shopfloor activities related to tooling repair, machining, and production support.

Job Requirements

NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent in Mechanical, Precision Engineering, or related discipline. 2–5 years of hands-on experience in tool and die, machining, or precision engineering environments. Practical experience in multiple machining processes such as CNC machining (preferably 5-axis), wire-cut EDM, turning, and milling. Experience in welding, polishing, and finishing techniques used in tooling and die repair. Familiarity with high-temperature or hardened materials and associated machining challenges. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical specifications. Experience with precision inspection tools and equipment such as CMM, micrometers, and gauges. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in diagnosing tooling and machining issues. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven shopfloor environment with high quality expectations. Comfortable working on weekends. Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and demonstrate strong teamwork and continuous improvement mindset.
