This role involves preparing equipment and teaching materials for Science experiments and supporting students during laboratory activities. The candidate will replenish consumable items such as limewater, iodine, paper towels, and hand soap, while ensuring Science labs, preparation rooms, and equipment are kept clean, organized, and well-maintained. Responsibilities also include caring for the Science garden through basic planting, watering, and removal of stagnant water, as well as ensuring laboratory items are properly labeled and adequately stocked. The role requires preparing teaching resources and equipment for weekly CCA and E2K sessions, maintaining lab equipment such as microscopes and data loggers, and assisting the Head of Department and Subject Head in liaising with vendors. In addition, the candidate will support Science events such as Science Week, handle administrative tasks including inventory updates, provide reception support to visitors, and attend to unwell or injured students by providing basic first aid and escalating cases according to school procedures.
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum GCE ‘O’ Level qualification or equivalent, with a valid First Aid certification (Standard or Child First Aid) preferred. They should be proficient in English with basic knowledge of Science, and skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel. At least 3 years of relevant experience as a Science Laboratory Assistant in a primary school is preferred. The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to work effectively in a school environment with children. Candidates should be resourceful in preparing teaching aids using available materials to support laboratory learning and reduce costs, and must be comfortable working closely with students in daily school activities.
