As an IoT Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain IoT and edge computing solutions that connect manufacturing equipment, sensors, and devices to downstream data platforms and business systems. You will work hands-on with microcontrollers such as ESP32 and Arduino, edge computing platforms such as Raspberry Pi, industrial sensors, and communication protocols including MQTT, TCP/IP, HTTP, and RS232/RS422. Python will be the primary programming language for device integration, automation, data processing, and system development. You will be responsible for deploying, troubleshooting, and supporting connected systems within a manufacturing cleanroom environment, ensuring reliable data collection and equipment connectivity. Working closely with Production, Maintenance, Automation, and Software Engineering teams, you will translate operational requirements into practical IoT solutions that improve equipment visibility, process monitoring, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and deploy IoT and edge computing solutions, including hardware selection, software integration, and system scalability. Configure and optimise microcontrollers, sensors, and edge devices to ensure reliable hardware and software integration. Develop and maintain data acquisition, processing, and communication pipelines for secure data exchange between manufacturing equipment, IoT devices, and enterprise systems. Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve existing IoT infrastructure to ensure system reliability, performance, and uptime. Conduct system testing, validation, and performance verification of IoT hardware, software, and communication components. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including Production, Maintenance, Automation, and Software Engineering teams, to deliver effective IoT solutions. Gather, analyse, and translate business and operational requirements into practical, scalable, and maintainable IoT systems. Develop Python-based applications, scripts, and utilities for automation, device control, and data integration. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, system configurations, and user guides. Support the deployment and maintenance of IoT hardware and devices within manufacturing and cleanroom environments. Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience Minimum 2 years of experience in IoT, embedded systems, industrial automation, edge computing, or related technical fields. Experience working with manufacturing equipment, industrial communication protocols, or equipment connectivity projects is preferred. Experience supporting hardware deployments and troubleshooting in production environments is an advantage. Technical Skills (Must Have) Proficiency in Python programming for automation, system integration, and data processing. Hands-on experience with microcontrollers and embedded platforms such as ESP32, Arduino, or equivalent. Experience with Single-Board Computers such as Raspberry Pi. Knowledge of industrial and IoT communication protocols such as MQTT, HTTP, TCP/IP, RS232, and RS422. Hands-on experience in electronics prototyping, wiring, circuit testing, and troubleshooting. Basic Linux system administration and command-line operations. Basic understanding of analogue and digital electronics. Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams, technical specifications, and hardware component datasheets. Technical Skills (Good to Have) Knowledge of SQL and relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL). Basic programming experience in C/C++. Experience with industrial automation, machine connectivity, or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). Familiarity with cloud IoT platforms and dashboards. Experience using 3D printing technologies for prototyping. Ability to independently research, evaluate, and implement new technologies.
