Assistant Chief Engineer

The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in ensuring seamless daily maintenance operations, implementing preventive maintenance strategies, and upholding high technical standards across the hotel. Day to day responsibilities: Conduct regular inspections and audits of building condition, equipment; identify maintenance needs and implement actions to ensure safe, efficient, and optimal operations Oversee and coordinate all engineering-related requests as well as the hotel's maintenance planning and defect rectification, ensure timely completion of works with minimal disruption to hotel operations Lead risk assessment for the Engineering team and ensure full compliance at all times Manage departmental budgets, capex, and equipment purchases, and ensure timely renewal of service agreements, certifications, and permits Proactively identify, address, and escalate technical or operational issues Conduct regular training and development sessions to enhance team capabilities and performance Prepare and plan duty rosters and ensure adequate coverage across shifts, public holidays and emergencies Identify training needs, conduct on-the-job training and support performance appraisals and career development Supervise third-party contractors and service providers, and ensure work is carried out safely and to specification
