Your Job As an Engineer in Product Design within the Consumer and Commercial Solutions Division (CCS) at Koch Inc., your primary purpose is to drive the successful development of new product development projects. You will research and develop ideas for new and/or improved designs, create design specifications and proposals that meet customer requirements, and lead design activities from concept to market introduction. Your role will also involve supporting product and process introductions with customers, OEMs, and contract manufacturers, as well as providing design support for product modifications, cost reductions, and manufacturing process improvements. Our Team You will be part of the Consumer and Commercial Solutions Division (CCS), working closely with various departments involved in new product development and manufacturing. This includes Product Marketing, Product & Project Management, Manufacturing Operations, Advanced Quality Planning, and Reliability Laboratory, coordinating across different time zones. You will also interact with customers and suppliers, sometimes on-site, to ensure seamless product development and implementation. What You Will Do Drive successful new product development projects by researching and developing ideas for new and improved product designs. Create and present design specifications, proposals, and product designs that meet customer requirements to Sales, Marketing, and Customers. Participate in joint design sessions to optimize connector designs for specific battery system requirements. Provide expert consultations to Sales and Marketing teams to enhance customer interactions and product understanding. Assist in qualifying new products and vendors, supporting Purchasing and Quality departments to ensure company standards are met. Collaborate with Operations to implement manufacturing process improvements aimed at increasing efficiency and quality. Provide training to other Product Design engineering personnel to enhance team skills and knowledge. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES [1] Product Proposal Phase Review customer requirements and assess design feasibility. Benchmark competitors’ designs and generate preliminary design proposals (CAD models, drawings, sketches). Evaluate design solutions for feasibility and request patent opinions as needed. Create models or mock-ups and ensure alignment with Marketing/Customer requirements. Present design proposals to Sales, Marketing, and/or Customers. [2] Product Design Phase Review customer requirements and assess design feasibility. Benchmark competitors’ designs and generate preliminary design proposals (CAD models, drawings, sketches). Evaluate design solutions for feasibility and request patent opinions as needed. Create models or mock-ups and ensure alignment with Marketing/Customer requirements. Present design proposals to Sales, Marketing, and/or Customers. [3] Product / Process Development Phase Review customer requirements and assess design feasibility. Benchmark competitors’ designs and generate preliminary design proposals (CAD models, drawings, sketches). Evaluate design solutions for feasibility and request patent opinions as needed. Create models or mock-ups and ensure alignment with Marketing/Customer requirements. Present design proposals to Sales, Marketing, and/or Customers. [4] Production Phase Review customer requirements and assess design feasibility. Benchmark competitors’ designs and generate preliminary design proposals (CAD models, drawings, sketches). Evaluate design solutions for feasibility and request patent opinions as needed. Create models or mock-ups and ensure alignment with Marketing/Customer requirements. Present design proposals to Sales, Marketing, and/or Customers.
